The Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a series of claims, personnel actions and a manure management plan during its Dec. 3 regular session.
The Board acknowledged Christina Poncin’s completion of 12 months as a full-time jailer/dispatcher with the Sheriff’s Office and approved a new rate of pay of $21.05 per hour, effective Dec. 11, 2024 (motion by Clarence Siepker; seconded by Brent Aden; "Ayes all, motion carried").
Following discussion with Assistant Engineer Gary Atherton, the Board approved Calhoun County’s proposed Open Ditch Repair for JDD 9 Cal 13 Poc for $1,500.00 (motion by Brent Aden; seconded by Clarence Siepker; unanimous approval).
Supervisors also approved numerous drainage claims from secondary roads covering multiple ditches and amounts, including (as listed in the meeting): DD 30 Main ($300.37 & $725.38); DD 41 MOD ($2,789.91 & $1,696.92); DD 41 Br 6 ($807.18); DD 41 Br 32 Open Ditch ($351.79); DD 47 Br F ($1,038.33); DD 53 ($455.39, $351.79 & $807.18); DD 57 Main ($1,258.21); DD 57 MOD ($3,433.79 & $85.16); DD 63 ($351.79); DD 86 ($3,797.33); DD 87 Main Tile ($1,379.09); DD 114 MOD ($703.58); DD 128 ($1,009.66); DD 167 Tile ($2,266.52); DD 170 Lateral 7 Tile ($788.87). A second motion approved DD181 Little Cedar ($329.00 & $414.00) and DD181 Big Cedar ($351.79).
The Board approved an Auditor reimbursement request of $57.82 for DD 51 proposed repairs and approved a Hudson Law Firm invoice for $450.00 related to DD 51 calls (motions by Jeff Ives; unanimous).
Supervisors approved a Manure Management Plan for Wacousta 4 Site (ID# 71771; NW SW, Sec. 4, Wacousta Township, Humboldt County). The owner is listed as Summit Pork IV, LLP, with Scott Jacobsen as the contact person. Clarence Siepker moved approval; Brent Aden seconded; the motion carried with unanimous 'Ayes all.'
Supervisors gave short reports of weekly meetings and noted a community event: Clean Grid Alliance will host a Solar 101 session on Dec. 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Manson Area Community Center. The meeting adjourned by unanimous motion.
