The Liberty Elementary School District governing board took a series of consent votes April 27 while several members pressed for clearer budget information before issuing new work agreements.
The board first approved the special meeting agenda and then approved the consent agenda with exceptions. Item 2.2 (personnel actions) was pulled for review; after discussion in which Member Todd said he had limited time to review materials amid board-docs outages, the board approved personnel actions by roll call.
Member Todd and other board members repeatedly expressed concern about approving contracts for next year before seeing a proposed budget. Member Zimmerman asked that administration deliver the budget promptly and argued the board should not issue work agreements for positions the board has not reviewed. The board ultimately tabled item 2.7 (support-staff work agreements for SY 2026–27) unanimously.
The board also discussed item 2.5, the 2026–27 employee health-benefits renewal. Administration reported the district cost for benefits is about $193,000 and said employees retain their plans and providers; though board members questioned whether the district had sought additional quotes, the board approved the benefits item 4–1.
Votes and next steps: multiple roll-call votes were recorded in public session. Board members requested that staff provide procurement documentation for benefits and that proposed budgets and supporting materials be presented at a near-term meeting before additional contracts are approved.
