Principals report spring testing, community service and national athletics wins

During the Palmyra-Eagle Area School District board meeting, school leaders reported spring programming results, upcoming events and student achievements.

A Monasuri school representative summarized spring testing completion (one student outstanding), announced a May 19 open house and described a wildlife‑center visit that led to fundraising and community engagement activities. Staff and volunteers were recognized for support of a community musical production and the Schools Explorers program.

Liz Kaser, principal at Eagle Elementary, reported on instructional initiatives including teaching cycles, peer mentoring for first‑year teachers, a literacy audit tied to report‑card work and summer curriculum planning funded through grants that will pay teachers for planning hours. Kaser said testing deadlines were moved because of storms and that summer registration will close May 25 with limited late options.

Josh Ker, principal at the middle/high school, said community service day sent 235 students to 18 district locations with 27 staff participating and totaled about 504 service hours. Ker also noted student successes: national powerlifting championships (three national champions and a girls varsity team win), state‑bound solo and ensemble participants, and over 1,300 hours recorded in personalized ACT/Pre‑ACT skill development tools.

Board members praised the community service efforts and commended coaches, staff and donors for supporting student activities. No formal board action was taken on these reports; they were informational.
