Community Development Director Mark Hunt presented two items to appear at the April 21 council meeting concerning a rezoning request by applicant Tom Ramirez.
Mark Hunt said the request would rezone a 1.77-acre parcel from A1 (agricultural holding) to A2 (rural residential). He explained that the parcel sits outside the regulated floodplain and meets the minimum lot size for A2 zoning; an associated plat would be filed if the rezoning is approved. The Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed the application and recommended approval; staff issued a positive report in the packet.
Hunt framed the future land-use map as a generalized planning tool and noted that zoning is the law that controls use. He said staff consider the site more consistent with nearby "neighborhood light" uses and therefore recommended the A2 designation.
No formal council decision was made at the Committee of the Whole; Hunt said the rezoning and plat would appear on the April 21 consent agenda for formal council action.
