Technology director retires; district promotes from within to lead IT

The Bedford Public Schools Board accepted the retirement of Jennifer Earl, director of educational technology and information services, and approved the internal promotion of James (Jay) Daisley to fill the role.
Jennifer Earl, who has served Bedford since 1992 and led the district’s one‑to‑one technology program and the technology response during the COVID‑19 transition, was recognized by the board for her long service. The retirement was approved by motion.
The board then approved the new assignment of James Daisley from Information and Technology Supervisor to Director of Educational Technology and Information Services. Superintendent and board members praised Daisley’s institutional knowledge and said he is a logical internal successor, removing the need for an external search for continuity.
During the same personnel segment, the board approved several other hires and assignments: a three‑year contract for Phyllis (PJ) Cotkey as Director of Transportation; BEA new hires Sarah Maholik (speech‑language pathologist), Tiffany Vololan (family and consumer science instructor) and Joshua Chambers (social studies instructor); and the appointment of Kimberly Mag Elcher as principal at Douglas Road Elementary. The board approved those items in individual motions or voice votes as described in the meeting record.
The board thanked Earl and welcomed the promoted and newly hired administrators and teachers.
