Miss Dixon asked the commission to authorize the executive secretary to open dockets and issue RFPs to solicit qualified consultants to conduct financial and procurement fuel audits for Mississippi Power Company and Energy Mississippi under Mississippi Code annotated section 77-3-42. Commissioner Stamps asked legal staff to examine whether the statutory audit scope could be expanded to include a comprehensive review of the financial impact that large-scale users have on residential ratepayers.
Miss Taylor announced she would recuse herself from Docket 2023 AD113 and recommended that Laura be appointed hearing examiner to preserve fairness; the commission approved the substitution by voice vote. The commission also adopted a resolution recognizing the service of electric lineworkers and another resolution recognizing Safe Digging Month and commending Mississippi 811 for operating the statewide one-call notification system. Several commissioners spoke in praise of lineworkers’ response during the recent winter storm and urged residents and contractors to call 811 before digging.
The commission also announced it will host a Memorial Day flaging ceremony May 5, 2026 at the Mississippi Veterans Monument and that the May open meeting will start at 11 a.m. on that day to accommodate the ceremony.
