Franklin County amends CHIPS budget, directs funds to specific county route projects
Summary
The Franklin County Legislature amended the 2019 CHIPS budget to reflect additional funding and rollover, approving targeted increases to project accounts for multiple county routes including CR 25 ($323,500), CR 27 ($300,000) and CR 60 ($335,000).
The Franklin County Legislature voted on June 6 to amend the 2019 Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) budget after the Highway Superintendent reported additional funding and a rollover from the prior year.
The board approved reallocations to project accounts for a number of county routes. Representative allocations listed in the resolution include: County Route 25 — $323,500; County Route 27 — $300,000; County Route 60 — $335,000; County Route 8 — $300,000; County Route 10 — $300,000; County Route 32 — $240,000; and County Route 5 — $150,000. The motion was moved by Legislator Lauzon and seconded by Legislator Janisewski and was adopted unanimously.
Resolution language directs the Highway Superintendent to apply funds to the specified county route accounts. The Legislature also directed that, if federal/state participation or final project costs exceed the appropriation, the board will convene to appropriate any required excess amount upon notification by the Highway Superintendent.
The budget amendments were presented as adjustments reflecting additional CHIPS funds and prior rollover rather than new county‑funded expenditures; implementation and project scheduling will be managed by the Highway Department.
