The township supervisors were briefed on the municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) annual update and opened the required public comment period for the MS4 permit, staff said.
Manager-level staff told the board that the township received its MS4 permit for the coming year and will advertise a public comment period as required. Lauren, a staff member, praised public-works crews, saying, "Our road guys did a lot of work this year ... they did a really great job," and noted the permit renewal was secured.
The meeting also included a planning update on a proposal for the Chippewa Alliance Church on 37th Street Extension. Manager reported that church representatives presented a preliminary plan to the planning commission and that stormwater controls are under technical review under the township's permit process. The manager said the project adds parking and includes stormwater management measures meant to prevent runoff that previously flowed toward a nearby residential area and Ponderosa Drive, which staff said should benefit neighbors.
Staff noted retention-pond work planned this year for sections in Meadows and Timberwood subdivisions and said outreach to homeowners' associations has been difficult in some areas; the manager and Lauren said they mailed notices to association presidents to schedule testing and inspections.
The supervisors took no regulatory action on the MS4 item at the meeting; staff will advertise the public comment period and return with any substantive public input or permitting updates.
