They noted several atypical professional expenses this year, including about $17,967 in payments related to a sanitary sewer study and roughly $17,500 for a water study, and suggested the commission consider increasing the non‑TIF operating allocation (options discussed ranged from approximately $60,000 to $75,000).
Commissioners asked staff for a budget‑to‑actual report and a list of committed items before taking a final vote. Staff said certain administrative transfers between line items do not require council approval but acknowledged the commission should see the actuals before approving a final ledger. The commission identified June 30 as the deadline for submitting the budget package to the county council and agreed the June 23 meeting would allow one more chance to finalize figures.
Because the commission lacked the requested detail at this meeting, members voted to defer a final 2027 approval to the rescheduled June meeting. The commission also approved, by voice vote, changing the June meeting date to Tuesday, June 23 at 8:30 a.m.
