Board honors nearly 200 students and staff for state qualifiers and service

The board recognized 189 students (over 200 recognitions) across athletics, arts and career programs and named Denise Dunn classified employee of the month for service to the Mil Valley SAC program.
Superintendent Dr. Howard told the board the evening featured more than 200 recognitions covering 189 students and 15 groups that qualified for state competition.
Coaches and advisers accepted recognition for teams and individuals: the boys bowling team (senior Kyle Teters), competition cheer (Siobhan Cunningham, fourth at state), mock trial (team Watergate, attorneys Hillary and Kate), DECA, boys swimming (swimmers Carter Pankalo, Ryland Brown, Brady Cordana and Patrick Filbert), girls wrestling (Avery Riley and Macy Lee), boys wrestling (state qualifier Jack Williams and state placer Keegan Andrews), cross country qualifiers, indoor track qualifiers and FFA state- and national-level recipients (Graden McCreary, Tristan Leonard, Maddie Works, Austin Bennett and Will Ramsey).
Dr. Howard also read the nomination for Denise Dunn, the district's classified employee of the month, praising her leadership running the Mil Valley SAC site and training new staff.
The recognitions covered athletic, academic and career-technical programs and highlighted the district's emphasis on "well-rounded students," Dr. Howard said.
