Internal audit: accuracy and clarity checks on draft articles
Summary
Assistant audited draft articles for speaker attribution, chronology, misidentification risk, omission and factual precision; revisions focused on clarifying speaker labels, tightening quotes to named speakers, and noting items needing external verification (loan scores, application deadlines).

Audit summary and fixes applied:
1) Speaker identification and attribution — Issue: multiple workshop voices were unlabeled in the transcript; some council members were referenced by honorific only ("Miss Mets," "Miss Gregory"). Fix: retained the exact transcript labels for speakers (e.g., "Miss Mets") and added the explicitly stated name where present ("Sarah Gregory" from an email read in the meeting). Where a speaker did not self-identify, articles use a stable functional label (e.g., "Wesler presenter," "Still Water Crossings representative," "Mike (Choice One)"). Quotes were attributed only to speakers present in the pre-pass speaker list.
2) Chronology and provenance — Issue: timeline entries must match transcript SEG ranges. Fix: each article's provenance includes the earliest and latest SEG ranges where topic discussion appears and selected verbatim excerpts for evidence.
3) Quantitative precision — Issue: several numbers (e.g., WPCLF scoring and ODOT application thresholds) were consultant statements and required verification. Fix: reported consultant statements as such and flagged them for verification in salience notes (fact_check_risk). When the transcript included exact figures (e.g., "$28 million" or "13 crashes"), the draft used direct quotes or paraphrases with speaker attribution.
4) Omission check — Issue: public comment was minimal or absent on these agenda items; articles note that the presentations were consultant/staff-led and that formal votes were not taken except for the personnel appointments.
5) Framing and balance — Issue: ensure neutral tone and avoid implying decisions that were not made. Fix: wording changed to specify "verbal consensus" or "recommendation" where applicable rather than stating council had approved actions.
Following the audit, the articles were revised to implement the fixes above and to avoid attributing statements to unnamed individuals; any item identified as needing verification is marked in the salience/follow-up fields.
