Board approves fire-police request for July 4 parade; resident warns about proposed state zoning bills

Later in the public-comment period, a resident alerted the board to two proposed state bills (one referenced as 2045) that could require municipalities above a population threshold to permit duplexes, triplexes and quadplexes in areas zoned for single-family homes and to allow multifamily uses in some commercial zones. The resident asked the township to consider forwarding a letter to state representatives expressing concern. Staff noted some versions of the bills apply only to municipalities with populations over 5,000 and recommended monitoring developments closely.
