Forest Lake aligns CTE courses with new career wheel, cites $1.3 million in grant funding

Director Jacobson said Principal Jim Caldwell and CTE coordinator Mike Myron reviewed the district’s current course offerings against the new career-wheel guidance and that grant-writing over recent years has brought in "more than a 1.3 million dollars" to launch new courses with minimal to no local tax burden. Jacobson said the committee is identifying remaining gaps in course offerings and pursuing additional grant opportunities and local-industry partnerships to address staffing or equipment needs.
Jacobson said the district will continue the mapping process and engage local employers, business owners and experts to ensure course relevance and to identify any additional resources required for new programs. The district is awaiting a grant decision that would help pay for some of the implementation work.
