The select board reviewed reserve‑account requests from the fire commission covering vehicle, facilities and building accounts. Staff said the fire commission asked for increases that would raise some reserve lines slightly (for example, from $75,000 to $80,000 for one reserve) and that the commission also identified priority repairs such as engine exhaust and bay floor drains.
Staff reminded members that ambulance revenues are projected near $320,000 and that the fire commission has some funds in a recently renewed CD. "Ballpark maybe about 500,000 in unexpended funds," staff said, while noting that figure includes current‑year ambulance revenue and that collections and forgiveness requests (for hardship cases) affect net available funds.
Some members expressed reluctance to draw heavily on fund balance until the commission’s audit status is clarified. Staff said they would continue to reconcile available balances and provide clearer figures to the board and fire commission before the joint meeting where reserve funding will be finalized.
