Board approves SOP and vendor for new and replacement water meters

Donald Worth of the Boonville Water Department presented a proposed standard operating procedure for installation of new and replacement water meters after repeated problems with meter orientation and mislabeling in developments such as Victoria Woods.
Worth said crews frequently found meter registers positioned wrongly or meters lying on their side, which makes maintenance difficult. To reduce errors he proposed tagging meters—green tags to mark sprinkler meters and blue tags for Boonville residential meters—and installing meters vertically in the center of meter pits. “The green being marked sprinkler meter and the blue being marked boomville meters,” Worth said when describing the recommendation.
The board approved the SOP and authorized purchase of the recommended tag product (VMS) at a quoted cost of $330.
The record shows Zach prepared price comparisons and recommended option two based on cost; Zach was not present at the meeting because he was ill. The board voted by voice to approve the SOP and vendor.
