West Milton's council approved ordinance CM-25-72 on Jan. 6, 2026, renewing the village’s 0.5% (one-half of one percent) income tax for the specific purpose of funding police and fire operations for a five-year period beginning Jan. 1, 2027 and expiring Dec. 31, 2031.
Miss Brush introduced the ordinance during the meeting’s second reading; municipal staff described it as a routine renewal of an existing levy and emphasized it is not a new tax. No council members asked substantive questions. A motion to approve was made, seconded and passed by roll-call vote with all recorded members voting yes.
The ordinance will continue to designate revenue for public safety operations under the stated timeframe. The measure was presented as a continuation of current funding rather than an expansion of tax authority.
