O'Neal said the system is not intended to connect to the grid and will power about 10 independent circuits (well, boiler and lights and other basic circuits) through a power station with battery storage.
O'Neal described a prototype rack of four panels he has already built and said he wants to add a second rack and bury wiring in conduit to a power station in his basement. He told the board the power station contains a battery that he described in the transcript as "just over 4 kilow hours" of storage; the board and applicant discussed that building standards or construction standards for battery enclosures were not specified in the application and that more detailed construction drawings and anchoring details (ground screws or concrete footings) will be required for review.
The board explained that a special-use permit requires a public hearing and said that the hearing would be scheduled after the applicant submits the necessary information; the board indicated the item would not appear before October. No formal action or vote was recorded at the meeting.
