Downtown update: Maple House opens; South Lyon awarded $2,500 technical assistance grant

Kim Rivera, South Lyon’s downtown development director, updated the council on downtown activity: Maple House has opened (hours Tuesday–Saturday 6 a.m.–4 p.m., Sunday 7 a.m.–3 p.m.), the farmers market has operated two well-attended Saturdays, and the city received a $2,500 technical assistance grant from Main Street Oakland County to support downtown design guidelines that will feed into the master plan.
Rivera described ongoing promotional work for Pontiac Trail and said staff are considering locating food trucks and seating in certain lots while keeping Liberty clear for sight lines. She also said Pumpkinfest organizers are coordinating a shop-small promotion and that sponsorships and promotional signs remain available.
Council members thanked Rivera and noted high attendance at recent events, strong local-business participation (including a successful Ladies Night Out), and a steady start for the Maple House business. Council discussed farmers market layout and how to present a fuller appearance by distributing vendors across parking lots.
