The South Lyon City Council on May 11 approved several routine measures including a uniform video services franchise renewal submitted by DirecTV, a $1,300 budget amendment for the land acquisition fund and the Pumpkinfest parking-lot closure.
The council voted to approve the DirecTV uniform video services local franchise renewal after staff explained the agreement is a state-issued, boilerplate form the city cannot alter. Council Member Hansen moved to approve the resolution; Council Member Curtzwell seconded. City Clerk Deon led a roll-call vote that recorded yes votes from Kurtzwell, Dill, Bogurt, Popa, Hansen, Squires and Mayor Steven B. Kennedy. The motion carried.
Council also approved a fiscal year 2025–2026 budget amendment totaling $1,300 to reflect contractual payments from the Adams outdoor advertising contract (two payments of $650 each). Finance staff said the change adds the $1,300 to the land acquisition fund budget. Council Member Hansen moved to approve the amendment; Council Member Squires seconded; the motion carried on roll call.
The consent agenda — which included approval of the South Lyon Pumpkinfest parking-lot closure — passed on a voice vote.
On routine procedural items earlier in the meeting, the council approved the minutes from the April 27 meeting and the bills for the evening; the minutes vote recorded one opposed (the speaker was not named in the transcript).
The council asked staff to clarify the term length for the Adams advertising contract payment at the next meeting.
