Organizers for Poolesville Day reviewed final logistics and volunteer assignments at the Fair Access Committee’s September meeting, reporting a bigger-than-expected turnout and assigning personnel for parking, check-in and booth shifts.
The committee estimated roughly 95 attendees and added three tables to accommodate the crowd. Volunteers were assigned to booth shifts (11:30 a.m.–1 p.m., 1–2:30 p.m., and 2:30–4 p.m.), and members agreed to staff the check-in table to keep food lines moving. The chair asked members to help manage parking and noted past issues when fire trucks blocked entrances; the group agreed to direct event parking and asked several members to assist with entry flow.
Organizers also finalized the breakfast panel format: a 15-minute panel with three panelists (three minutes each) plus a brief opening and closing. Panelists will address food insecurity and hidden needs (Kate), senior services (Melissa) and transportation and road maintenance (Link). The chair said the panel will place Poolesville within the broader context of western Montgomery County’s challenges.
Logistics details included borrowing JPMS's speaker system because Poolesville Elementary's system is not working; Allan Hobbs, identified as a library media center specialist, will pick up the equipment and volunteers will test it against the chair’s system to select the loudest option. Organizers reminded members that setup begins Friday at 5 p.m. and asked volunteers to arrive for assigned shifts. The meeting adjourned after confirming assignments and the Friday setup time.
