Fiscal court: first USDA buyout payment received; county clears path to issue checks as funds arrive

Chance told the court the county received an initial payment of $44,100 to pay some vendor services and is waiting on an additional $1,210,823.32 to be routed to the county bank account to complete purchases of eight properties.
"We've received our first payment of $44,100," Chance said. He said closings for the residential properties will be scheduled once the remaining funds arrive and that demolition plans will follow as part of the next phase. Chance also described an ongoing effort to secure funding for commercial properties through KYEM and FEMA and said the county had submitted a proposal application for a large federal grant that would help acquire commercial properties.
The court voted to approve issuing checks for the USDA buyout program "as funds and invoices are received," a procedural motion recorded by the court. That motion was moved and seconded and carried with an "Aye" vote. The record shows multiple additional procurement and budget items were approved that will support these workstreams, including bidding notices and a budget amendment first reading.
