Wall students place at state art competitions; district secures grants for cameras and supplies

Student Porsche Zimigga placed runner-up in the 2026 South Dakota Congressional Art Competition and her piece "A Whispering Dusk" was framed and shipped to Washington, D.C. for display through May 2027.
The instructor invited board members to the district’s first art-show open house Thursday at First Interstate Bank from 5 to 7 p.m. She also announced two grants: $4,600 from the Greater Wall Fund to purchase digital cameras for the new photography class and $800 from the Booster Club to buy lights, backdrops and related supplies. The district said the funds will equip the photography program for next year.
Students described their pieces and the experience at competitions; Tyler Hines explained the photography prompt (duality) and how a found arrangement of eggshells and a cigarette pack inspired her entry. Board members applauded the students and expressed appreciation for community support that helped fund equipment.
