The Foxborough Select Board voted unanimously June 18 to appoint MTC as the town's new Town Counsel after presentations from three candidate firms.
Board members said they were weighing firm size, municipal and land‑use experience, and the extent to which a firm would provide a primary local contact for routine matters. Bill, who led the discussion of the interviews, said the three finalist firms offered similar fee ranges but different staffing models and depth; he said MTC’s combination of municipal experience and specific land‑use capabilities set it apart.
Dennis and other board members cited the MBTA communities work and land‑use issues the town expects to face, and noted MTC’s proposals included concrete problem‑solving options for those challenges. Several members said KP Law was well regarded but felt ‘‘larger than we need’’ for day‑to‑day attention, and that Harrington & Heap had strengths in procurement and construction but was less focused on municipal land use.
The board moved to appoint MTC as Town Counsel, and the motion passed on a roll‑call vote with all members recording affirmative votes.
The board instructed the chair and town manager to finalize contract logistics (fee structure and any retainer provisions) and to return to the board if substantive changes are negotiated.
