Wright County schedules IT security closed session, sets hearings and backs transportation funding; commissioners outline legislative priorities

The board also scheduled a Committee of the Whole on April 28 at 1:00 p.m. to review GIS and property management system decisions, and set a public hearing on changes to the county fees‑for‑service schedule for May 5 at 9:30 a.m. The board additionally authorized sending letters of support to state legislators for transportation and highway funding.
In a legislative update, a commissioner reported ongoing work on a local "chicken bill" that has moved through committee, a push to update the state's Maxis eligibility system and bipartisan support for that effort, and an anticipated Senate amendment to create a Department of Corrections workgroup on community corrections issues. The same speaker said the Redex Center remains under consideration for bonding and that bonding negotiations often coalesce late in the session.
On the Maxis issue the commissioner described the state's current eligibility system as outdated, saying it is a 1989 DOS‑based system that produces numerous errors; the speaker said the county testified in support of a Maxis update and that the change was being considered for omnibus inclusion. No formal county policy changes were adopted at the meeting; the legislative items were informational and reflect ongoing county advocacy and monitoring.
