Board President Lita: finalists chosen for superintendent interviews April 25

"We have picked our final candidates," Board President Lita said, adding that the board had not yet been able to reach the finalists. "We are going to be reaching out to the finalists in the next couple of days and then we're going to go ahead and announce our finalists." The board scheduled interviews for April 25.
Five board members were recorded present during roll call: Board President Lita, Board Vice President Flores, Board Secretary Rodriguez, Board member Guerero and Board member Medano. The board conducted the candidate review in executive session under the statutory exception the transcript cites as Section 10-15-1H(2) of the New Mexico Open Meetings Act, which permits limited personnel discussions. The board did not release names of the finalists during the meeting.
The meeting also included the pledge of allegiance and a reading of the district mission statement. The transcript prints the mission text as "The Gapston Independent School District will provide diverse educational opportunities that empower students to be successful in an ever changing world;" the district name is recorded and presented here as GADSDEN INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS to match the official local name used in governing documents.
The meeting adjourned following the announcement; the transcript records adjournment at 6:52. The board said it will contact finalists before making a public announcement and proceed with interviews on April 25.
