Board approves staffing changes, accepts principal’s retirement and introduces new treasurer and facilities leader

The West Seneca Board of Education on April 14 approved multiple personnel actions and announced administrative appointments. The board approved personnel item 3A (to delete a vacant grounds worker position in transportation and create laborer/part-time laborer positions) by a 7–0 vote; it later approved item 3B, a business-office restructuring that deletes a clerk position and creates an assistant school district treasurer, by a 6–1 vote after discussion about staffing and retirements.

During the meeting the board recognized the retirement of Holly Quinn, who served as an elementary principal and began her career in West Seneca as a remedial reading teacher. The superintendent and colleagues praised Quinn’s leadership and service.

The board also introduced and welcomed newly appointed administrators announced during the meeting: Kyleen John, appointed to the district treasurer role; Rich Look, appointed assistant director of facilities; and Colleen (appointed head custodian). Administrators said the hires were intended to fill identified operational needs; the assistant director of facilities appointment followed an earlier board work session approval.

Board members asked for follow-up details on staffing levels and duties in transportation and the business office. Administration agreed to provide a staffing breakdown and to follow up with board members after the meeting.

Next steps: administration will provide requested staffing detail to the board and incorporate these changes into the district’s personnel records and budget lines.
