The Lake Mills Town Board voted on Dec. 9 to withdraw from the Cambridge Fire & EMS Commission and authorized municipal counsel to prepare a withdrawal letter.
Board members approved a motion to submit a letter of withdrawal and then authorized the town’s designated staff (Kyle) to review and finalize the draft prepared by Dempsey Law before it is sent. The board instructed that the letter be sent by certified mail and noted a target to submit paperwork by Dec. 31 if timing requires it.
Members said the town has engaged new counsel with municipal-law experience to handle the draft. The board carried both motions by voice vote and directed staff to complete the certified-mail process and keep the board informed of transmission and any replies from the commission.
