The Lake Mills Town Board on Dec. 9 approved a rezoning and a conditional-use permit requested by Jeffrey Levy to reconfigure A3 lots and establish a home-occupation business on property off Hope Lake Road.
Levy told the board the reconfiguration restores a change that was previously approved but not recorded; he said he "signed the affidavit and told him to go ahead and get it recorded," referring to a 2001 affidavit that documents the use of available splits. The planning commission recommended approval with the stipulation that no further splits be allowed on the affected parcels.
The board approved the rezoning on the condition that the property owner sign a town affidavit affirming that the available splits have been fully utilized. For the conditional-use permit for a home-based septic and excavating business at W8684 Hope Lake Road (parcel 018-0713-3343-002), the board approved the permit with an explicit condition that the permit remains tied to the property owner while they own it.
Board members and the planning commission noted the applicant does not expect customer traffic that would require additional parking and described the operation as a small crew with occasional outside help. The planning commission’s recommendation to limit future splits was incorporated into the board’s approval.
The board recorded the approvals by voice vote and directed staff to obtain the signed affidavit and complete necessary recording and permit paperwork. The conditional-use permit will be enforced in line with county and town procedures for such permits.
The next procedural step is for the owner to sign the town affidavit and for staff to circulate finalized documents to the town register of deeds and the planning files.
