The Coffee County Planning Commission on May 26 approved a rezoning request to change a parcel at 12541 Murfreesboro Highway (map 022, parcel 0006.04) from A1 to C2.
Applicant Chad Hillis said he intends to build storage buildings behind his office and noted there is room for two driveways on Highway 41 to provide entrance and exit. "I've never done this before, so y'all just have to bear with me. I'm just want to reszone it to get the most use out of it," Hillis said.
Rodney Duncan moved to approve the rezoning; Anna Gonzalez seconded. Randy Harrell told the commission he would abstain from voting because he is cousins with the applicant. The motion carried after commissioners voiced their approval.
The commission discussed access and cautioned the applicant that rezoning to C2 can be difficult to reverse. No further conditions or amendments to the rezoning were recorded in the transcript. The applicant was wished luck and the commission proceeded to other business.
