The Ashland County Land Conservation Committee elected Jim Schultz as its chair and selected Dave Mindle as vice chair, then confirmed citizen representatives Charlie Ortman and Gerald Richardson.
The committee approved the meeting agenda and minutes from Feb. 11 before nominations. Charlie Ortman moved to nominate Jim Schultz for chair; after closing nominations by voice motion the committee unanimously approved Schultz. A later motion and voice vote appointed Dave Mindle as vice chair.
Committee members also moved and seconded the appointment of Charlie Ortman and Gerald Richardson as citizen representatives and designated Charlie as the county’s representative to the Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association’s northwest area. The motions were carried by voice votes.
The changes are procedural: the chair runs meetings and sets certain agenda priorities while the vice chair steps in as needed. Mary Joe Jingris, Ashland County conservationist, led introductions of staff and new members at the start of the meeting and then presented the department’s annual report and program updates.
The committee set its next meeting for Wednesday, July 29 at 9 a.m. and adjourned after completing the agenda.
