The Village Board approved a set of personnel items brought forward at the meeting: nine fire/EMS employees submitted written requests to cash out or convert unused vacation to sick time under the collective bargaining provisions and the board approved the requests by motion. The board also approved separate requests from the fire chief, DPW staff and administrative employees for limited buybacks or carryovers consistent with contractual rules.
Separately, the village manager reported that Michelle Middleton has resigned as recreation director (effective March 1). The board discussed options for filling the role, including working with the existing nonprofit recreation entity, recruiting a new director, or exploring a partnership with the town’s recreation staff. Staff will report back with replacement options.
Members also asked the clerk and finance staff to ensure the buybacks are processed according to contract provisions and to provide documentation for the personnel files.
