Council backs Pink Lake Road widening using Black Spot funding

Council endorsed an officer recommendation to support the dedication of portions of Lot 598 and Lot 6 for the widening of Pink Lake Road, a measure councillors said is funded through Black Spot funding and will not require additional ratepayer contributions.
Councillor H told the chamber the works will improve road safety at a known blind spot near tourist attractions including the Glass Gallery and recent local development, and that consultation had been undertaken with adjacent landowners. "This is going to improve road safety…there won't be any cost to the ratepayer," Councillor H said.
Councillor Oborn supported the motion and noted increased traffic from south Pink Lake development had made the road more hazardous. The motion to support items one through three as written was moved and seconded and carried in open session.
No amendments to the officer recommendation were recorded in public minutes.
