Council approves Merc warehouse expansion, 57,000‑sq‑ft facility moves forward

Representatives for Merc presented final site plans on Feb. 2 for a proposed 57,000‑square‑foot warehouse on tax parcels in Millsboro. Ed Taylor of AW Engineers told council the project had completed required reviews with conservation, fire marshal and utility authorities and sought final site plan approval for phase one.
Taylor said the warehouse would consolidate Merc's product currently stored at multiple locations and that more detailed parking and circulation plans would be presented in a subsequent filing. Council asked for clarification about employee and visitor parking and site access; the team said additional design work on parking is underway and will be returned to council in a later presentation.
Council approved the final site plan for phase one by voice vote.
The applicant will return to council with parking and security provisions for the full site plan.
