Deep River presents King’s Coronation Medal to Paralympian Kyle Tromblick

Deep River Mayor Dion and council presented the King’s Coronation Medal to resident and Paralympic archer Kyle Tromblick during the council meeting on Sept. 10, recognizing his performance at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games and his community contributions.
The mayor described Tromblick’s journey from a 2009 ATV accident to representing Canada on the international stage and called the presentation “a proud moment for our council and our entire community.” Council members noted Tromblick’s progression from sledge hockey to para archery, a bronze at the Parapan Games in Santiago and a narrow quarterfinal loss in Paris decided by millimetres.
Tromblick addressed the chamber, thanking the town and council for long-term support: “I shot my best. I shot hard. I got 10 on the final shoot off arrow. It just wasn’t my day,” he said, and expressed gratitude for the community’s backing since his accident.
The mayor formally conferred the medal “on behalf of His Majesty King Charles III, the government of Canada, and the town of Deep River,” and council moved to receive the presentation. Following the formal portion, council paused the regular agenda for a short reception so attendees could speak with Tromblick and his family.
The presentation was carried by motion and recorded as received. No formal council action beyond the recognition was taken at the meeting; the council then proceeded with scheduled notices and reports.
