Windsor youth group seeks fence replacement, playground upgrades at Klumpp Park

Windsor Youth Sports & Recreation representatives told the Village of Windsor Board of Trustees on March 6 that they want to replace deteriorating sections of the baseball-field fence at Klumpp Park and move the fence inward by about 10–15 feet to open space around the concession stand and T-ball field. Mike Reksc, identified as the baseball coordinator, said the change would address safety concerns and match the layout of other little-league fields.

Heather Noyd, president of WYSR, said the group has contacted several fencing companies and is aiming to complete the work before Opening Day on May 3. She also described community volunteer events: a park clean-up scheduled for April 5 and an Easter Egg Hunt on April 12, with unfinished projects to be completed that same weekend.

The group is exploring grants to upgrade the playground and a separate mosaic project. Noyd said many grant opportunities they examined would require partnering with the local school because the park is not part of the school property, and she is still gathering information about how such partnerships would work. Superintendent David M. Decker advised WYSR that any playground additions would need to connect to the existing playground in order to meet code and clearance specifications.

Trustees did not take a formal vote on the proposals during the meeting. Next steps noted in the discussion include WYSR continuing grant research, coordinating with village staff on code requirements, and pursuing installation timelines that would allow work to be completed before the May Opening Day.
