Waverly reports: fire calls rise, parks registrations strong, public works readies test wells

Aaron, reporting for fire and safety, said the department handled 23 calls over the past two weeks: one commercial fire alarm, two automatic crash notifications, 12 medical calls, two grass fires, one semi fire, one minor fire, two auto accidents and one residential fire alarm. He noted that the burn ban was lifted after recent snowfall and that new member Katon Jonas (transcripted as "Katon Jonas") conducted CPR/AED training for four members; EMTs have license-renewal deadlines of March 31.
Parks staff reported 127 registrations for baseball and softball and 220 registrations for youth soccer, and requested volunteer coaches. Public works staff described routine maintenance (soil samples, hauling biosolids), a worn wastewater-plant valve issue with replacement parts expected to take approximately 16 weeks, and snow-plow operations that extended through the night during a recent storm. Staff also said a well-driller will begin test wells at 13 locations in March pending favorable weather.
These reports were informational; council recorded no objections and moved to accept the committee reports as part of routine business.
