A board member told the Barrett Township workshop that a memorial tree at the High Acres site — planted in honor of a community member — is dead and on township property and proposed replacing it ahead of a weekend Memorial Day observance.
"It's dead and it was planted in memory of a good man," the presenter said, and offered to plant a replacement in time for the weekend event. Other members volunteered assistance and said the expense is minor and can proceed without a formal vote during the workshop.
Board members asked for a photo to confirm the tree and for staff coordination on planting logistics. No formal action or expenditure authorization took place during the workshop.
