Old Crescent Springs residents flagged concerns as council begins first reading of traffic-pattern changes

City leaders presented the first reading of Ordinance 2026-2 on Feb. 23, proposing a new traffic pattern for streets in the Old Crescent Springs neighborhood, including Audrey Terrace, Uclid (Uclit/Uclid) Avenue, Estelle Avenue, Jefferson Street, Gibson Place and Enid (Edith) Avenue. The measure was introduced for discussion; council took no vote at the meeting.

Officials said the city circulated a map to affected residents roughly 10 days earlier and held public meetings. Council members summarized the survey results: about nine respondents opposed converting certain streets to one-way, roughly one respondent favored one-way streets, 16 respondents opposed community mailboxes, three supported them, and the rest were undecided. Responses about parking adequacy and water issues were mixed.

Council members signaled they plan to continue the discussion at the council caucus before taking action. One member said the caucus would be the appropriate forum to ensure broad agreement before finalizing the ordinance.

Council emphasized that no changes would be implemented immediately: the item was a first reading and informational review. Staff said they removed Main Street from the proposed one-way conversion after resident feedback and incorporated map revisions into the current draft. Council also invited further resident input during upcoming caucus and public meetings.

The city did not provide a final implementation schedule at the first reading; council members encouraged additional outreach and review before a second reading or adoption.
