Play East staff outlined the agency’s budget timeline at the Feb. 3 board meeting, saying staff will prepare a programmatic annual budget, meet with finance leadership for review, and present a first draft to the board at the March meeting. If the board has no major outstanding issues, it may vote that night to recommend the budget to the partner city councils; otherwise staff will return in April with revisions and a final recommendation.
Staff said the board will see a format that highlights programmatic revenues and expenditures rather than the former line-item approach, and that each section will include explanations for major changes and underlying trends. Board members were urged to submit questions in March so staff can supply answers or revisions for an April vote. The board discussed the cadence of monthly meetings leading up to the budget decision and agreed March would be the first substantive review.
