Staff said six firms submitted proposals; two finalists were interviewed and Garrett was selected for a design that integrates ramps, ADA-accessible play elements (including a wheelchair glider) and bonded-rubber surfacing to allow inclusive access and fall protection.
Parks staff told council the design emphasizes multi-age play opportunities: toddler elements, elementary-age features, and a "bamboo jungle" climbing element for older children. Staff said the winning submission met the project's warranty and ADA requirements and fit within the project budget. Funding will be covered by park impact fees and capital reserves tied to growth.
Council authorized the council president to execute the contract and staff said construction timing will follow the city-hall park schedule. The project is intended to provide accessible play in the new civic park adjacent to the future city hall.
