Council members were asked to volunteer for small preliminary budget review sessions and were given early pension funding figures that will be reflected in the 2026 budget.
Mr. Abrams said he had emailed council about smaller budget-review meetings and asked members who can to respond so the sessions can be scheduled. He also announced the borough’s minimum municipal obligation (MMO) figures that will appear in the 2026 budget documents: the police-pension MMO is $197,950; the transcript listed a non-uniform pension figure as "2626" (not specified) and an estimated employer contribution for the defined-contribution plan at about $25,022. Abrams said those figures are the borough’s required contributions before any state aid is applied and that the total MMO is lower than the borough’s 2025 figure; state aid for 2025 remains unknown.
The announcement was informational; no budget votes occurred at the Sept. 2 meeting. Council members said they will continue budget work in upcoming committee sessions and public meetings.
