The borough property committee reported progress on several maintenance and capital items at the Sept. 2 meeting, including inspections, community collaboration and upcoming procurement steps.
Mr. Beacon said warranty checks of the Westinghouse Lodge roof found no roofing defect on the examined section, though interior wood paneling appears bowed in places; skylight-area leaks found earlier were repaired under warranty. He also reported a request from Woodland Hills youth baseball seeking materials and some public-works labor for field improvements, characterized as low-cost collaboration.
On the main park bridge, Beacon said staff rebid the project as a precaution and that bid opening is scheduled for mid-September; if bids are insufficient the borough expects to move to direct negotiations. Contractors were on site for Coke Park steps, where concrete pours and land clearing are complete and an October finish remains the target.
Beacon said a future, more detailed report on the borough’s stairway inventory will include GIS data and a fuller assessment; the committee flagged one significant exception (Cascade to Fairfax) for further work.
No contract awards or final approvals were recorded at the Sept. 2 meeting; committee members noted next steps and bid-opening timelines.
