The Burke County school board approved its April 2026 financial report, voted to publish a tentative FY27 budget for public notice and agreed to accept revisions to a previously filed corrective action plan.
A presenter reported the district is about 83.3% of the way through the school year. Revenues were stated at roughly 57.1% of the budget and expenditures at about 80.6% of the expected year-to-date level; the presenter referred members to detailed vendor and investment schedules provided in the packet. After questions were solicited and none were raised, a motion to adopt the April financial report passed by show of hands.
The board then considered the district's tentative FY27 budget. The presenter said the document is a tentative budget that will be published and that the board is expected to give final approval at its June meeting. Board members moved, seconded and approved advancing the tentative FY27 budget for publication.
Members next revisited a corrective action plan for FY23 that had been introduced in February. After incorporating requested detail noted in an April 28 email, the board voted to approve the revised corrective action plan.
The board took each of the three actions by voice/hand vote; specific individual vote tallies and mover/second names were not recorded in the public remarks.
