The Monument Town Council on Nov. 17 approved Ordinance 21‑2025 to remove the town’s vendor fee (a discount businesses receive when remitting sales tax). Lori, the finance manager, said the existing vendor discount is a 3.33 percent reduction on remitted sales tax up to a $100 maximum; removing it will increase town revenue and will take effect Jan. 1 (returns filed in February for January sales).
Nut graf: Staff said the change will produce revenue for the town, will be publicized on the town website and dashboards, and that businesses already pay penalties for late filings. No public commenters appeared in person or online for the hearing.
A council member said the change should be standard practice and noted that penalties for late payments already exist; Lori said the town will notify businesses through its communication channels. The council opened and closed the public hearing with no speakers and moved and approved the ordinance 6–0.
