Labor representatives updated the board on this year’s negotiations outcomes for classified and certified staff.
Tim Griffin (chief human resources officer) and Paul Williams (classified association president) described a collaborative classified bargaining season and said the classified agreement passed with overwhelming support; they praised joint work on scheduling and investments in classified compensation.
Steve Lash, president of the District 12 Educators Association, told trustees the certified agreement included a major salary-schedule restructure intended to create more-equitable steps and improve pay parity with neighboring districts. Lash said the certified bargaining committee also approved a Title I pilot compensation structure designed to aid recruitment and retention in targeted schools. He reported a 95.5% ratification vote among certified educators.
Board members praised the collaborative process and noted the district’s reputation for constructive bargaining. Finance staff earlier outlined that a sizable portion of proposed mill-levy override revenue would be directed toward staff compensation, which trustees and union leaders said helped facilitate agreements.
Next steps: ratified agreements will be incorporated into the district’s personnel budgets; some part of compensation increases will be reflected in FY2026–27 ongoing spending and in mill-levy override allocations for staffing.
