District says Prop 28 funding expanded arts access; board approves annual report

Erica Walters, the district’s visual and performing arts coordinator, presented an annual report showing how Proposition 28 funding was used to expand arts access across the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District.
Walters said funds supported classroom projects (painting, clay, digital art), professional development for teachers, after-school clubs (guitar, Lego, hip-hop), on-site visiting artists and a variety of field trips and performances. She cited partnerships with institutions including the Crocker Art Museum and Gallo Center for the Arts and listed multiple in-school and off-site experiences that engaged students from elementary through middle school.
The board approved the Prop 28 arts and music annual report by roll-call vote. District staff said they reported 3,481 students served in the annual filing and will upload the required narrative and site budget information to the California Department of Education.
Board members commended the program and noted the district’s efforts to use funds to increase equitable arts access.
