The Pittsylvania County Planning Commission voted May 5 to recommend a special-use permit that allows a garage to be used for storage at a mobile-home park but prohibits mechanical work.
Dakota Tim and Matthew Hecker, representing Cascade Virginia USA Holdings LLC, presented supplemental materials showing the garage’s location at the rear of a 17.28-acre mobile-home park on U.S. Highway 58 and said the building would be used to store one vehicle per tenant, not for repair work. "It's not going to be a garage where they work on cars. It's going to be for storage only," Matthew Hecker said.
A nearby resident said storage would be acceptable but urged that any auto repair or wrenching be prohibited because of proximity to homes. Commissioners added a condition prohibiting mechanical work, and a motion to issue the special-use permit with that storage-only restriction passed 5–0.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the appropriate review body for final permitting steps.
