Administration said summer school begins June 1 and runs through July 9 at most sites; Belton High School programming will run through June 25. The district will offer grade-segmented sites and BHS will host credit-recovery, online options, driver's education and conditioning classes.
Facilities staff outlined concrete repairs across multiple schools (BMS, BHS, Gladen, Cambridge, Mil Creek, KT, Steam and Bosow), kitchen work to maintain code compliance, classroom carpet and painting projects, drop-ceiling installs at Gladen and work at the fieldhouse that will require about five weeks of closure to repair a roof-leak-damaged floor. The district plans to auction surplus items identified during building clear-outs.
Trustees raised safety concerns about the middle school football field, citing repeated injuries; staff said that field is not part of the bond plan and short-term maintenance steps (fencing off half the field, adding dirt and re-grassing) are under consideration. Administration also said they are assembling a turf and track package tied to bond funds, with softball and baseball fields to be addressed first so the football field need not be decommissioned mid-season. Board members agreed staff will return with schematics and cost estimates.
