Commissioners reviewed a preliminary property inventory and photographs for Jan's house, which attendees described as about 131 years old, and discussed next steps toward local designation.
Jan presented the draft inventory and photographs and commissioners praised the documentation. Members identified several of the city's local-register criteria the property appears to meet (items 1, 2, 4, 6 and 11 were cited) and suggested supplemental materials such as a site plan and photos of the carriage house. One commissioner noted the property has architectural distinction and historic associations that could strengthen a nomination. Jan and staff will refine the inventory and provide originals and photographs for the commission's files.
The commission took no formal action at this meeting but agreed to place the item on the July agenda so members can review a finalized submission and vote on whether to forward the nomination. Commissioners also discussed logistics such as a signed consent form from the owner and potential accompaniment materials to explain which criteria the house meets when submitted to the register.
"This looks beautiful," one commissioner said of the draft inventory and photographs. Staff will circulate the finalized materials to commissioners ahead of the next meeting.
