Other consent items included an approval to enter a contract with Southern Elevator Company, Inc. for elevator maintenance and repair services across county facilities ($148,200), an approval to award a sole-source contract for the library’s digital-content management services to Overdrive (ebooks, e-audiobooks, streaming content), and a resolution and lease agreement with Bull City Slabs LLC for a suite at the Shops of Hope Valley.
Commissioner Dickens asked whether the Duke Energy Carolina "Shine the Light" funds recognized for the Department of Social Services were consistent with previous years’ amounts; a DSS director answering in the meeting said such funds typically range from about $16,000 up to $30,000–$35,000 depending on the time of year. Manager Hagar said the consent items presented at the work session will be brought to the regular session for approval.
The work session record does not show formal board approval of the consent agenda items during the work session; staff indicated those approvals will be sought in the later regular session.
